15 VDL Futuras for Contikiholland

VDL Bus & Coach recently delivered 15 VDL Futuras to Contikiholland. This Dutch coach company has been a loyal VDL customer for many years. The fleet of 88 vehicles consists exclusively of VDL buses. 

Comfort and luxury
Contikiholland has opted for a deluxe version of the VDL Futura. It offers room for a total of 54 passengers, who can travel in total comfort thanks to adjustable seats, USB/HDMI/AUX/VGA connections and 220 volt electrical outlets to recharge phones, iPods and cameras. The coaches also feature an extra-large luggage compartment.

The 12.9-metre, 2-axle coaches feature a powerful DAF MX-11 271 engine with a rated output of 271 kW (370 hp). Thanks to the ZF AS-Tronic gearbox, ride comfort and low fuel consumption are further optimized. A unique aspect of this order is that all 15 VDL Futuras have been fitted with a solar panel on the roof. The energy generated by the solar panel is used to charge up the battery. This keeps the battery topped off at full charge, which ultimately results in fuel savings and reduced maintenance. The Futuras are also equipped with an extra water tank that collects condensation water from the air conditioning. This provides a supply of water for cleaning the bus while travelling. 

Contikiholland 
Atlas Reizen b.v., operating under the trade name Contikiholland, is located in Stellendam (NL). The company is part of The Travel Corporation. Contikiholland offers a wide range of services, from local transfers and school trips to all-in day trips and multi-day group travel arrangements. In collaboration with various partners and local agents the company provides hotels, activities and tickets for tourist attractions throughout Europe.
